The new break down of results shows that there is a significant rise in number of candidates who passed.
Approximately 53% of the students who sat for the 2016 May/June WAEC have passed.
According to the result released on Friday August 5, by the WAEC; 137,295 candidates (representing 8.89) had their results withheld.
The total number of candidates who passed had credit passes in five subjects including English and Mathematics was 878,040 which represented 52.97% a stark contrast to the 2014 and 2015 breakdown where 31.28% & 38.68% respectively had the same rating.
According to NAN report on Sunday 10 July in Lagos, admission of candidates into tertiary institutions will be based purely on three pillars which include: merit, catchment and education less developed States.
